Its a wild, wild world. [Oct. 12th, 2008|09:27 am]
[Current Mood |confusedperplexed]

Did you know that Bollywood hero Shah Rukh Khan is going to receive the title of "Datuk" from the Malacca state?

I am amused, but now I'm confused and then I just become disappointed and I'm speechless.

What is the yardstick to honour people? Especially in a Muslim state.. This is the unfunniest joke ever.

I fear the world that my kids will have to grow up in.. I fear for my own state!

Shaykh Hisham Kabbani [Aug. 23rd, 2008|12:45 pm]
[Current Mood |happygrateful & happy]

My favourite picture of the 2 of them. Shaykh Hisham & Grandshaykh, Shaykh Nazim.

My favouuuuuurite picture of S.Hisham. What a happy man!!!

Has a funky Taj too. ;)

I can't believe its been a year. First time I met Shaykh Hisham was during his visit last year. But it was Ramadhan then. He had this aura and this look in his eyes. That charming smile and that fatherly figure. I didn't know why I missed him when he left. And last night, when he came, I just teared.

I had this undescribable happy feeling. I didn't see him when he came in because there was a huge crowd around him but I just knew he was here even without turning around. I could sense it. He just has this... presence! And i couldn't stop grinning and giving my private, personal salam in my heart to him. Assalammualaika ya Sidi Shaykh Hisham... :)

He is soooo cute and so darn sweet. The one major thing that attracts me is akhlak and his is superb la masyaAllah. I was driving one of the organisers back to the headquarters and she was telling me what he said when he arrived at the SG Power Auditorium. He saw the large crowd outside and he went , "Why are these people outside?" And they said coz the auditorium was full. And he was like "Can they hear me? Should I speak outside?" Haha and the organisers were panicking la coz some people actually came at 7 just to get good seats and here Shaykh is considering talking outside. Then they were trying to convince him to go in but he was hesitant and he was like "Why don't I speak outside and you broadcast it inside?" haha what a lovely man! How can anyone not love him subhanAllah!

Then he saw that the organisers really wanted him to go in and he said "Okay, will we have a coffee break? Then, we can ask them to switch places."

SO CUTE AND SWEET I CANNOT TAKE IT.

Its one thing to learn and read how Islam is about justice and morals and great characteristics but its a completely different story to see someone actually living ISLAM.

We didn't have a coffee break. And we couldn't switch places. But either way, I'm just really happy he's here. After watching someone on video for a year, I can't begin to describe how happy it is to see the man in person again. Alhamdulillah.

Oh oh, another thing happened. After the talk, a large group were waiting to salam him and before anyone could do anything, the stage was packed la! Like, everyone just started going on stage to shake his hand. He was smiling and salam-ing whoever he could and then when he realized there were too many people getting on stage, guess what he did? HE JUMPED OFF THE STAGE! Yes, he didn't, and couldn't, get to the steps so he JUMPED OFF. Hahaha. So then later he went to a larger area where it was safer to salam and not crowding on that wooden stage haha. At his age, jumping off! Imagine that!

What a wonderful man. What a wonderful smile. What charm, what mannerisms, what a beautiful moral personification.

I can't imagine how beautiful Prophet Muhammad SAW would have been.

This pain is nothing compared to his. [May. 9th, 2008|08:20 pm]

[Current Mood |depresseddepressed]

My heart breaks everyday. I step out of the house & images of Muslim couples cuddling & kissing in public grieves me. I take the train & I see Muslim girls younger than me pushing prams with their kid with dyed hair & I say a silent prayer for them. I read of Muslims converting to other religions because “I can do what I want” & my tears fall and my heart shatters. My ears feel as if they are burning when I see young Muslim boys using vulgarities, a lit cigarette between their frail fingers, a scantily-clad teenage girl hanging on their other arm.
